fitted new head

hi all new on here today. right lets get started i have just brought a freelander 1.8 petrol year 2000(W) and it has got engine problems. I have changed the head and when I asked the question if all the heads were the same was told yes. Since putting the new head on its come to my attention that it has a manual tensioner and the engine already in had automatic belt and tensioner. if I brought a new manual belt and tensioner would it be possible to change and would this solve my problem. Can anyone help as I need this car back on road asap Thanks
