I had to go to a hamlet near Matha 17490. The dealership thing was a bit of a missunderstanding, I'm not sure if there is a dealer nearer or not, the only one I know of is in Tours which is further from them. However it would seem that getting it sorted was a problem. Not many P38's around and dealer knowledge is probably worse here than in the UK. Not many indies either. I was also probably the cheaper option as a dealer would have wanted it transported to their premises

Landy dealer in Tours is where the French indie sent his 'prentice when my brake pipe split an he didn't have the right flaring kit, neither did any parts places or his muckas.

I'm taking him a suitable flaring kit this summer as a thank you surprise. Least I knows then he'll be right if I need him again.

The Tours landy agent is no longer listed, nearest one now is Niort and they are not really interested in anything older than an L322. Some indies will work on the Disco, but never heard of one that will touch the P38.

Mines a 300tdi Disco. I was quite surprised when he sent him off such a distance - he came back with a new pipe that was a fair bit longer than needed but hey ho, have enough to fashion a repair if it ever goes again - and it only cost 86 euros which I rounded to the 100 as a major thank you due to the fact he went out of his way and gave me a courtesy car with no need of the complications of insurnace/licence viewing which really did surprise me - I thought the reception dolly was going to drop me 'home', but she just handed me the keys when we got next to a scabby looking megane and said au revoir!!

That really was customer service - although there were no coffee machine or swanky showroom - just a tin barn with some old for sale cars on the front. He also seemed to do lawn mowers/quads/tractors in fact anything with a motor.

Local mayor for our place popped in a set about jet washing his car - had a chat to him and he was mightily amused by the whole saga.

Most of the French indies are not indies at all but franchises of Autofit and the like. In my experience they will only fit parts that they supply at exorbitant prices. Generally they are friendly but **** scared of the P38, it's reputation is far reaching.

A Burqua keeps it clean

I now have a job I do not really want, changing the airbags and generally sorting the car, water leaks etc.

It's illegal to wear a Burqua in public in France, isn't it????

But I suppose its ok in your own workshop, would be a good defense for skin burn from welding though, Hmm....I wonder.......A Proban Burqua.... must call hse.......

It certainly is illegal to wear a burka or niquab in public in France, one protester has just been prosecuted, not sure but I seem to remember it got 3 months.

Difficult decisions to be made here on that. Some of the Asian women you see should be given three months for not wearing one. So mixed feelings.
