It's been a lomg time since I was in an ARC / ALRC Club, but unless their regulations have changed, yours might be overmodified for some competitive events. Plenty of non competitive fun to be had though> I don't like too much body modification myself normally, but it doesn't look half bad!
There is a new class called Class Q specifically for Land Rovers like these :)

Can you recommend sow good alloys & AT’s? I dread to think of the road noise and fuel economy with the current tyres! Haha
There is a lot of choice with wheels and tyres. None particularly wrong, but some things may work better than others.

Alloys, they look ok on newer shiny 90's and 110's. But often look out of place on off roading ones. But it's personal preference.

Most stock alloys will also have a poor offset, sitting the wheels quite in-board with a narrower track. This usually results in the front tyres rubbing the radius arms at full steering lock and worse turning circle.

I like steel wheels, quite a lot of choice from Land Rover own One Ton/130 rims, Wolf and Discovery 5 spokes. To many different 8 spoke and modular ones. Lots of variation on width and offset too.

As for tyres, it depends what you want to achieve I personally love the look of big fat monster truck tyres. But the reality is, they are heavy. So will generally degrade on road handling, mpg and straight line performance and off road they will tend to sit on top of the mud more so. This is good for sand and dry rocks, but narrower tyres tend to work better for most UK off road terrain.

Stock tyre sizes are:

-7.50 x 16 = should be nice tallish narrow tyre
-235/85R16 = fairly narrow and similar height to a 7.50 but a bit fatter
-265/75R16 = again a similar height but fatter again

However there are lots of other sizes you could consider.

-31.10.50R15 = An American size found on many Jeeps and many US Land Rovers. Bit shorter than the ones above, but a bit fatter. Note 15" rims needed.
-255/85R16 = sadly a rare size but nice and tall at just over 33" and still quite narrow

Unless you have need to, I'd probably not go over a 33" tyre unless you have lots of axle upgrades. Bigger tyres will break stuff more easily.

The smaller the tyre generally the better it will run on the road.

As for tread. AT's can be fine, but many are hardly better than a good MT on the road and a lot worse off it. Either the best or the worst of both worlds depending on how you look at it.

Personally I prefer running MT's.

Something like the BFG MT or the Cooper STT Pro are a good compromise. Not as aggressive as the Simex copies you have now and ultimately not as good in the deep mud. But much much better on road, in the wet or the ice and still very capable off road.

If you want some specific tyre tread or size suggestions let me know, I might even be able to produce a pic or two. Between myself, my brother and my uncle we have a wide selection of tyres from 205's right through to 34" inch tall Simxes.

Again thanks for your informative reply :) the tyres i currently have are 285/75/R16 so they are certainly going to be “interesting” on the road!!! I think im going to look on ebay or some forums for a set of steels with BFG MT would be a good choice for me then! Hopefully i find some at a good price :) the truck sits very high up so im going to have to get some to suit! cheers
