Greetings to all, first time landy user – guess you have to start sometime, I’m so used to four-hoof drive...

Working on a long term project converting a barn to live in and my electrician has kindly lent me his 1961 series 2 (if I can fix it) has stood for two plus years with a seized clutch and spinning starter motor – fixed the starter today (bit of rust on the shaft etc.) and it started after only half a dozen turns – amazing things these machines..

Some advise please – looking at the flywheel when the starter was out it was pretty rusty – so I am assuming that the clutch is also hence it being laid up (complete clutch was brand new 2 years ago only a few hundred miles on it – left for a month and it would not work after that) clutch pedal is hard and springy – doesn’t feel as though it is/wants to separate the driven plate/cover.

Do I need to remove the gearbox complete to remove the clutch or can I separate the box/engine with enough room to take off the clutch and clean it up/repair it?

Any suggestions/pointers please.

Cheers

PS has a strange set of linkages underneath the front that apparently worked a snow plough? Anyone come across this?

try draggin it around a field in gear while jumping up and down on the clutch pedal or start it in gear and do the same while driving it. this has bin known to unstick the fookers

Slob - Hi, Thanks for getting back

Sounds a bit brutal for an old one (the Landy not me) are they really that tough? Will give it a go anyway and see what happens, if it works it will save some time no doubt!

cheers
