iam doing conversion from a 2.5na is a D reg to a 300tdi N reg disco, just want a few things clearing up some questions might be daft :p,

i am leaving the lt77 box in, but took the plate off the na to put on to then 300tdi, what clutch should buy for a 2.5 na or a 300tdi ?
what exhaust should i buy for it, or do i have to mix and match,
and as any one done this if so what did you do about then air box as iam wanting to fit a snorkel,
and i think that all for now,
i did a search and all come up with hasten told me what i need to no, any help would be appreciated

thanks gary :D:D:D

I fitted a 300tdi HD clutch last time and it seems to work.
Exhaust is a bit tricky, a standard 300tdi won't fit because the engine sits further back than normal. You can use the normal exhaust but it is very restrictive so it may be better off using the 300 downpipe and fabricating one yourself if you can weld.
You may as well use a 300tdi air filter can, it's nice and big but easy to waterproof.

+1.

Ok mate nice one :D . Will try get a bit more done in week if not will have to wait till weekend:([/QUOTE

I'll be doing this swap soon hopefully so get some pictures up.

What about engine mountings are you using 300's if so they sit further back and you will have to weld some on.

You can use 2.5 ones as the bolt on but the drivers side has to be modified and then strengthened to accommodate the oil filter. And then the downpipe has to be modified to miss the nearside mounting so lots of work either way you go.

I'm using the disco gearbox so mine will be easy with all pipes coupling up without modification, just the gearlever comes up behind the transfer box lever instead of in front.

Not sure if the 2.5 Temp sender will fit 300, I know it fits 200

Plenty of info on here about it anyway;):)

i have seen some mounts that just bolts on but not sure if they work as easy as they say,:confused:
here what it reads
'made to order' engine mount.
Designed for the conversion when installing a 300 tdi engine into a landrover LR90 defender 200tdi engine bay, including earlier td's and na's.
The mount is designed to bolt to the existing 300tdi engine mount but fit the standard LT77 200 tdi defender 90 gearbox and chassis mount.
Please allow around 5 days for a standard order from manufacture to shipping.
No need for any welding just simply bolt in place.
The mount comes painted black, with a fitting kit and a free oil filter.Reason for requiring just one mount is that during the conversion you need to remove the nearside/passenger side engine mount from your old engine and bolt to the new engine, and the new mount on the offside/drivers side. the engine can then be fitted,

thats what i was thinking about any ways but not sure yet its me littel project so long as its on road again for winter, and yer i should get some pics up soon

if you are fitting the 300 to the lt77 box all you need to do is take the engine mounts off the TD engine and bolt them onto the 300.
i put a 200disco in my TD fender and it fitted perfect as for the exhaust you should be able to get a conversation pipe on fleabay

I thought the mounts of the na engine was different to to 300tdi I thought it sat back to the bulk head more. I have all the engine mounts from the 300tid and the 2.5 na. I see some brackets people make that just bolts on ut not sure it anyone has used them they on ebay says for fitting 200 tdi and 300tdi in to a 2.5 and td engine bay

not sure about the 300 but all you need do is measure it ie; from bell house plate to mounting bolt holes on the 300 and TD blocks

ok mate cheers will get the tape out tomorrow and see what that difference is if any

If you use TD mounts on nearside of 300 they do bolt to the block same as TD but the exhaust will not fit as it is directly above the mount.
They suit 200 ok because the exhaust comes out different.

Offside one bolts straight on to block in same place as TD but on 300 it fouls the oil filter and you will have to modify the mount and strengthen it.

The 300 has provision for both sets of mounts on the block, TD bolts on near front and 300 mounts more to the middle of block.

Hope that helps:)

Like the man said. I got mine off eblag, was about £50. The engine block is the same on all of them. You could make your own as I have a drawing somewhere for it. I used a 300 downpipe & just cut into wedges to get the right angle.

This is what it should look like by the time your done.
The easiest way is with this mount, I did mine in a day with 1/2 day making the exhaust fit.
