Sorry for bringing up an old thread but I just did mine and for the first time I didn't buy STC3345 from Land Rover (they didn't have one nor will they ever again, apparently) or the Sh!tpart equivalent but took a (small) chance and bought BMW part number 11232246511, or rather an OEM equivalent. Had it fitted today and it went in just fine. Here's the link to the item I bought just in case someone finds it useful. The listing even has the Opel/Vauxhall equivalent part numbers so that might also help when searching for your next crankshaft pulley damper.

What led you to diagnose the pulley damper on yours?

It's happened before so I know what to listen for. My car seems to make a very distinctive sound when the pulley damper starts to go- it sounds like a badly worn, knocking engine, only very faint, as if the engine is trying to be polite as it knocks itself to oblivion.
I think it's quite early on that it'll make a faint noise like that. It gets easier to diagnose as it progresses and of course by the time the whole thing just seperates, it becomes even easier still- "Oh look, the pulley damper has broken in two!"

It must be the heat out there. As far as I am aware mine has never been done.

That's impressive. They're almost like service parts out here. Even the Land Rover originals are good for maybe 4, 5 years before they get iffy. The Sh!tpart one I had barely made it a year. Let's see how this Impergom one does. With the shipping and import charges I got hit for on this one I'll need to make a point of bringing home a couple spares the next time I visit the UK.
