Hi Martin, whats the reason for the new engine build?Dayco for sure... I managed to buy a genuine Dayco on eBay yesterday for £23... stocking up for my engine rebuild!
Hi Martin, whats the reason for the new engine build?
PS, fitted the new screen connector to my HEVAC unit this week....works a treat!
Good man!I'm glad the HEVAC is all sorted!
Engine rebuild... I've been meaning to 'refresh' it for the last few years since I bought it, as it feels a bit tired - but I saw that a couple of the core plugs on the block are leaking when I was under there doing some other jobs.... Decided to use the opportunity to rebuild myself a fresh engine to swap over, as I don't have the time to have this one off the road whilst I strip/rebuild the engine that's in it. A bit of an expensive undertaking, but overall it will be worth it, as I'm planning on keeping the vehicle for the foreseeable future!
Mostly standard - top-hat short engine from V8 Developments, and then I have a spare set of heads which are being pressure checked/skimmed/valves relapped at a local engineering place. Putting a Piper Torquemax cam in to give it a bit more 'pep' in the lower rev range. Decided to go with ARP head studs - not that I'm planning on having to pull it apart again in a hurry though! New rockers, shafts, tappets (obviously with a new cam!), oil pump gears, water pump, flex plate, spark plugs etc.
I've already got Magnecor leads, and put new ignition coils on a couple of years ago. Will also use the opportunity to re-run my LPG pipework again and LPG injectors to try and get them fitted under the banana manifold. A fair whack of work to do - but should be worth it in the end! Then it's onto the other 2 P38's I have for restoration!
You should consider studs and wing nuts. All sounds good. Going to pull my heads again when i get my spare set refurbed & putting ARP's in. Just getting fed up of having to replace head gaskets all the time & never been happy with the stretch bolts. I opted for the Kent 180 cam & 4.0 pistons.
Anyway.....going slightly off topic here
You should consider studs and wing nuts.
