I am trying to find the factory amplifier in my 98 disco. Anyone able to help me? I don't where to start looking. Thanks in advance for the help

is it a D1 or D2? my 96 ES had a CD changer under the seat with a sub amp and 2 speakers in the tailgate. Since changed the head unit with a sony and disconnected the changer.

it doesnt have a cd changer under the seat. I don't know if the person who owned it first took it out or it never had one. It is a discovery I

is that same amp powering the front speakers? Its hard to believe they would run wires back to the front to power the other 4 speakers. I'll check it out though! Thanks for the help. By the way what is ACE?

i got same problem if you havent got sub box on rear door its not in rear door mine aint under drivers seat i think its behind dash board im going for total rewire much easier than trying to sort out whats there already

If you are refering to the amp which is separate from the radio in the dashboard, it is fixed on the back of the 2 speakers in the back door (not the corner posts) and is part of the sub-woofer assembly.

This amp only powers these sub-woofer speakers.

Hi,
The amp for the 98 disco is on the body wall behind the passengers kick panel.
It is silver in colour has 1 big plug to it.

I've got & '98 Disco and it has an amplifier strapped to the back of the bass speakers on the back door.

Are you saying that there is another one ??

Hi

Yep.

The 1 on the sub bin on the rear door is JUST for the sub!!.

My advice is to bypass the LR amp and cable directly to the speaker wires as they come out of the amp. Pull the glove box out and it is quite easy. I've done 3 of them now!!

just a quick question........why did you bypass the factory amp? I thank you for the info though. I did see it under there when i was resetting the factory service reminder, but i didn't know that is what it was. Very helpful! Thanks!

Howdy,
Ya don't have to but it aint very powerfull and you have to make up leads to go onto the harness at the radio end. It is Quick and usualy better quality just to bypass it. Use decent cable to go down to the amp from the stereo. For memory 8metres will be more than enough as you need 4 runs.
Happy days!!
