factory alarm problems

Please can anyone help?
The alarm on my defender 110 TD5 1999 keeps going off. Its not turned on, it goes off randomly, while im driving, parked, anytime!
Is there any way to completely turn the thing off. I believe its a factory fitted immobiliser and am happy to immobilise the whole thing permanantly as we live on a remote scottish island.
any help on how to do this or what might be causing it would be great. many thanks.

My alarm is suspect too... led on dash constantly glows, which is irritating, and to my mind an indication of a fault that could immobilise me without notice!

There's a fuse behind the dash that I have removed... but still led glows

I did a search on here and someone has suggested dry solder joints in the 'control spider'... which is located in with the battery... I now have a solder kit, but not the time to take it further... this may be where you need to go too?

is it horn blasts or alarm sounder type noises?

Is it intermittent or constant when it goes off?
