Similar to the thread I've just started in the discovery section, I'm wondering if the faceflited bumper/headlight combo is any better at putting light onto the roads than a standard pre facelift vehicles headlights are?

Yes the facelift headlights are brighter than the pre facelift lights for 3 reasons.
First off, there are twice as many bulbs in the facelift headlights.
Secondly, the H7 bulbs used produce more light per bulb, than the H4 of the pre-facelift.
Thirdly, the facelift reflectors are optimised for each bulb fitted. The pre-facelift has a simple reflector and a frenzel glass to aim the beam. These aren't as good, so reduces light control and output.

Just a quick question on this. Do people generally think the facelift lights are decent? When I bought mine I'd previously been driving company cars - mid 2000's Peugeot estates mostly. I felt that when I got my freelander, the headlight performance was not as good. I do have light guards fitted mind. Just wondering what people's thoughts are.

Facelift headlights aren't bad, better still with some brighter bulbs.

The pre-facelift lights are below par by comparison to other vehicles of a similar age.
