I know what you mean about the weight but an ally top end and steel crank plus rods brings the weight very close to a 350 and ally rods will get you more or less there
Costs a lot though! This is why I'm having to run 4 or 5 leaf front parabolic springs and an uprated axle, uprated gearbox, Dana transfer case and axles along with 44" tyres for any kind of torque handling ability.
My exhaust is going to be a handmade set up runnin out the bonnet and down the side if the wings running proper dual set up and then into corvette slash cuts
In hindsight my 383 kit may have been adequate but a 454 is just amazing!
And whom exactly are you meant to be terrorising with this set-up - apart from yourself..........?
We have just finished a 1977 series 3 'hotrod' for a client
he presents with a beautifully restored 1977 series 3 soft-top in black with silver modulars, exmoor seats etc.
he then tells us he wants a V8 auto with PAS so his wife can drive it
and to retain 3 seats across the front...................
so we go down the route of suggesting we build him a nice 90 V8 auto with a series front on it.........................................NOPE..............has to be this car...........family heirloom...............................
So we have what will probably be the fastest genuine series on the planet
1.Cross-bolted top-hat fully balanced 4.6 with kent H180 cam, stage 1 heads, edelbrock intake and 500 carb, bespoke exhaust system.
2. 4- speed HD ZF auto
3. Rebuilt RR Axles - 4- pin diffs, 1.2 transfer box
4 Uprated brakes
5. parabolic suspension
6. defender PAS steering (very big job)
7. Uprated cooling
8. loads of other crap - some of which is appropriate and some not.
goodnight all
