I know this has probably been answered before but i cant seem to find a thread that leads to a solution.

ok so i have alot of power loss. i got in the landy and started it up. when it started it almost cut out on me. as i tryed to reverse out my drive (wich is on a slight angle) but it could bairly make it out onto the road! i put her into 1st to take off for work and its unreal how slow it pulled off. a granny on her scooter could have me off at the lights if she wanted to! after about 5 minutes of driving things start to pick up a little, it pulls off a bit better but not much of an improvment.

if anybody has had the same problem and has a solution i would be over the moon and you shall be down on my christmas card list for 2010 :D

Snows on the way! an i wanna play!

thanks in advance

Ben

and u checked the obvious first? fuel, anything frozen, fuel filter, etc, etc.????
nope not yet, to be honest the filter is prety new, the landy has only been getting put to good use in the past 2 months but ill check in the morning. cheers on the reply :)

cheers for the reply guys

so i checked an changed all the filter. they were fine but i replaced them anyway. ive vhecked the injectors and they seem fine.

no im not using veg oil

please feed the noob! every little helps :p

cheers all

thats what was next in line. cheers mate. good know know im looking in the right places :)

No worries. That would definitely be where I would put my money... they tend to go suddenly without any warning.

If it's not then I would be looking at fuel line blockages or air in the system. Does it smoke at all?

well there is some smoke when it starts. the smoke looks white to me.

question: if air was getting into the system. where should i start looking to solve the problem? cheers for the help by the way all. im taking a whole day out on monday to try sort the problem, just making a big list of things to check so i can start cracking on with it first thing monday morning :)

i have a similar problem but its only when it first starts white smoke and no power at all then it clears. i think i have an air leak in mine somewhere but no idea where

how slow? mine is that slow that if i ask someone for a race, they could walk it mate an still finish 4 seconds ahead of me lol reeeeeeeeaaaaly needs sorting :( but it dose pick up after the engine is warmed up though. im replacing the glow plugs on monday so will see if that makes a difrence in the mornings when starting the engine.

let me know if you fix the problem if so giz a holla an let me know what you done :D

nice one mate, apreciate it :)

tomorow im gunna be replacing my fuel sender, had it for ages just one of those things i never got round to toing, but im guynna take a look inside my tank. maybe even give it a good cleane. i was told by someone that in the cold weather ocndensation can build up in your tank, so its a possability that water is getting into the system

Hi

Are you getting much extra exhaust smoke?

I had an issue with my land rover a couple of years ago. I lost power when driving along the M5 - dropped down to around 20MPH top speed - which was an issue!

I checked the air filter - fine - and did all of the basics. Eventually I noticed that the hose from the turbo to the inter cooler seemed to collapse under hard acceleration.

When I looked inside the hose from the air filter to the turbo, I found a flap of material had half torn off, and when the airflow reached a certain point, the flap blocked the pipe and therefore reduced the power. It took some hunting for, as when there was no airflow, the flap popped back out of view! So the flap was acting as a power limiter.

A knife, some gaffer tape, and I continued on my way.
