Ok people periodically post asking for shelving / storage ideas, so I took some pics of mine.
My criteria were :
To be able to access the fridge from the front/while driving, because having to stop to get another cold beer really sucks....
To have everything easily accesible.
To be able to secure everything without having to make my vehicle look like a prison van by putting grills on the windows.
To have a flat deck / platform in the back, so that with a small extension of the deck over the passenger seat I can sleep in the back, this should be happening tomorrow.
Obviously everyone has different requirements, but feel free to nick any idea's that might work for you when you make your own, and please post some pics of what you make / have made
To start we have the naked back lined with a thick load mat made from reclaimed rubber, got on ebay..
And the fridge in, secured with an Engel fridge slide securing kit.
Side boxes and shelves in. The side boxes are from Metallics UK (ebay) and I chose them because they were Aliminium, and thicker/stronger than the contoured steel boxes from BareBox. They came with locks and lock dust covers already fitted, and the whole boxes are dust sealed. The shelves are just chequer plate with some angle for strengthening, and everything just bolts together.
Two plastistor boxes fit snugly in the bottom, and contain tools and recovery gear. Lighter, simpler, and a fair bit cheaper than the mobile storage solutions drawer... In the middle shelf 2 x 25 litre water containers, and empty space usually filled with clothes bags. My Norwegian Army Bog fits perfectly in the space to the right of the fridge. and a jumbo pack of toilet paper between the fridge and the water containers.
From the front, the flap covers the fridge, and is lockable. Then when the back door is locked with a secure lock, and the side boxes are locked, nothing is accesible from the top...
And a new mod is my gas locker, the gas bottle will be sectioned off in the back of the side box, and then vented to the outside.
