could a leak between the exhaust manifold and down pipe cause a drastic decrease in top end engine performance??? im gonna gun gum the hell out it tommorow anyway. was just wondering
in this case yesIf your car was produced after 1995 and has an exhaust leak upstream from the catalytic converter, then the exhaust leak will almost certainly cause a reduction in performance. This can occur because the engine's oxygen sensors are not receiving correct information about the engine's air-fuel ratio, which will cause the engine to inject more or less fuel to compensate. This decreases engine performance, particularly in the low-RPM band.
found this online ! load of old tosh then, cheers for quick reply
sorry should of said ive renewed every part of the fuel system in december last year with genuine parts. had an issue with air in fuel it turned out to be a fault with the injector pump. that was after i changed every pipe from tank to injector pump/ lift pump/fiter housing and injectors. so i am confident its not a fueling issue. the engine is starting over fine and idleling perfect. the problem arrises when under load at high revs.
