My ninety is the same as Gun's still with 19j exhaust. The original 19j final outlet section of pipe had a smaller diameter, however replacements today look to be made with the same diameter as those of tdi engines.
tobysi may be a modeler like myself and for some reason with model engines exhausts are referred to as mufflers.

Yep, that's not right. I recently replaced the TD exhaust on my 90 fitted with a disco 200tdi. That is too far back and low down. The bend in the exhaust goes above the axle - maybe you have it upside down? The Britpart jobbies can be a bit of a pain to fit, I find extra rubbers and metal plates allow adjustment to make them fit quite well. I usually cut the last few inches off too to stop them sticking out the side of the landy.

I’m still having issues with this. Do you know the part number for the britpart exhaust you have on your 200tdi - or where you sourced it from?
The exhaust shown above does go over the axle, however, it sticks out too far into the top of the mudflap (where the metal fixture for the mudflap is).

The part is as suggested - a 2.5 TD tail piece. I have had to cut around 4" off the end with both I have bought - otherwise they stick out beyond the side of the body.
I wonder if your intermediate silencer position is making the end of the tail pipe point too much to the rear? The intermediate silencer is almost dead behind the pipe from the manifold. I find it's best to loosen all the joints in the system when fitting to allow lots of wiggle.
