Has anyone else ever experienced this?

First noticed it yesterday, doing approx 40mph through roadworks etc. At first, thought it smelled of coolant, and was watching the temp. gauge like a hawk! Even upto 70mph again, it was still there...
Made it to our destination, checked coolant level, and all was fine. Rechecked again before leaving, just in case, and still on the max mark. Hasn't moved at all.

I only notice it when the rear window is down, so can only presume its exhaust fumes being drawn up into the back of the car. Never noticed it with any other Freelander though. Has anyone else ever experienced this before, and have a fix (other than leave the window closed :p)

Had it on other cars when the boots been open (carrying stuff from diy store) but found the fumes cleared when I opened a side window. Never tried driving with the back window open.

If the tailgate window is partly down I find it gets a bit fumy. All the way down, and it's mostly OK. To be completely fume-free, I lower one of the front windows a bit and that sorts it out, as Sing sez.

To be honest, I find the "airflow through the car" method far more effective than air-con on hot days. Air-con on F/L1s does seem to be pretty pathetic at best. Well, it is on mine, even after a re-gas!
