It did quite well between Oxen Fell and Knipe Fold that X-Trail, even over the lumpy bits. Anyone with a Freelander know that lane?

is that the bit i got "X-axled " on? :rolleyes?

thats the big prob with SUV's with independant suspension - not enough suspension travel - tiz easy to get one wheel on each "axle" off the ground :(. Must be the same with Gay - freelanders.

They got LSD or whatever the electronic equivalent is haven't they? ESP or whatever?

I wish:eek: - NOoooooo

they have an electronic form of "VCU" attached to the front of the rear diff, which takes sensor feedback from ABS sensors, speed, angle and other sorts of ****e to determine when to lock the "VCU". - but yu have the advantage of 2WD, "Auto" locking and "Locked VCU". Which, I have to say, works a lot better and quicker than difflock on the Disco .

I think the Freelander2 has a similar system.

Aye that's the one... although to be fair to it, if you'd been up for paying the repairs you could have backed off and had a bit more of a run at it and the XT would probably have romped up it. Of course, it might have cost a few quid for a new undertray and suspension bits :)

You've had both... how would your old V6 have coped with that lane?
