Yeah, when we fired up the air con we found a leak in the pipe so we had it welded up, fitted it before the breakdown only to find another crack in the pipe. We've got some old 205 road tyres which will do the job nicely and we've got a whole list of bits which we need to stay legal.

Thanks for the advice

Albert

We're planning on going down the French Coast to the Pyrenees and to Andorra for some greenlaning, then across to Monaco for a few days and then down to Italy and to Rome. We'll then come back up to Venice and then up through Switzerland and Germany and then back home again. Bout 3000 miles in total, no set route yet just choosing destinations. Should be a good laugh, our mates disco is almost ready so hopefully after repairing ours we'll be good to go.

I know it sounds trivial, but ensure A/C works, you will need it in south France & Spain. I have been to S France & S Germany in mine. The engine is bullet proof (when cam belt sorted) just needs maintenance, same with drive line, I would recommend road biased tyres if you have the choice. Remember to take Hi Viz vests one for each passenger and breathalysers for France. If going to Spain, should any driver wear glasses, you will need to carry a spare pair. Other than that Keep off the motorways the French have aires (rest stops) on the main routes as well as the payage. Take loads of photo's and enjoy.
You also need to carry a spare set of bulbs, insurance documents and driving licence counterpart.

Give me a wave on your way through Switzerland! :)

To add to that, France has gone mental in recent years; you must also carry a first aid kit, reflective jacket for all passengers and possibly a warning triangle too. We were check twice in France on our way down to Athens.

Yep got all that down, hopefully we'll get everything together, we found a chart of all the things which we will need to carry with us. Shouldn't need to use the breathalyser kits unless we get a little over executed in the wine country :p ;)

Well, I've not had a chance to do any updates recently but seeing as I'm currently sat at Dover harbour I though I'd best let you know where we're up to.

So she's all cleaned serviced and loaded up. Heavy duty rear springs make it sit a lot better especially now it's loaded and it behaved itself quite well on the way down. Can't wait to get on the ferry and across to Europe now!!

Not any more.
Alcohol test kit is required in France, introduction was delayed that's all, you also need HiVis jackets for driver and passengers, a complete set of spare bulbs, a warning triangle, two if you are towing and if you need glasses a spare pair if you venture into Spain.
Bon route:)

In theory you need two alcohol test kits, one to use and one to have so you can still drive if you use the first one and it is clear! Without the second tester you would no longer have a usable tester and be in breech of the law.
I gather there is an understanding that the French police will not by too worried if you don't have one, but it is wise to have one in case you upset the police and they need to find something wrong.
But it is best not to upset the French police as they hunt in packs and carry guns.

Keep in touch, regular updates and pics always appreciated.
Good luck stay safe but mostly have fun :)

True you need to carry 2 alcotest packs. 3 is better.
Also true the Gendarmes are not too worried if you don't have one, they will just happily relieve you of €90:eek:
