Hi, welcome to the mad house. I think I remember passing you on that byway, it was getting to about 4pm at that point I think. Keep an eye on this thread, we organise laning days here and there and your welcome to pop along, see whos who and get muddy. The little TJ is paulsc on here, hes local and often out with us as well....

Thanks Jon. I'll keep an eye out for upcoming trips. This is a route i'm proposing for the 27th Jan. Anyone know if all the lanes in question are open/available?

I'm based in Chelmsford. Brought the YJ with me from the US when we moved back here (I grew up in West Hanningfield/Roxwell). It's lifted and ARB'ed, etc.
But hasn't seen much action in the last couple years as places like Kirton, Tong, Seven Sisters, etc have gotten too expensive to drive to. So it'd be great to meet some locals and get out.

Two of those lanes in your link we did on out christmas laining day, finding out what lanes have restrictions, seasonal closures or closed for maintenance can be a pain in the ass.

For that area i think this is the right link....The Definitive Map of Hampshire.

You either need to have a look at the definitive map or speak to your local officer.

Had a reply back from ECC ROW. Some of the Byways around that area are closed to National Grid work:

Dear Mr Cooper,

We have looked at your proposed route and can advise that we are aware of one closure that would affect you. Byway 75 Debden, which runs from Amberden Hall to Chickney Road, is presently closed to allow the National Grid to undertake repairs to their overhead cable network. More information about this closure and details of other public rights of way closed to facilitate these works can be found here: National Grid: Rights of Way and Road Closures

As you are aware Byway 37 Debden/Byway 37 Widdington, which runs from Hamperden End to Rook End Lane has several wet and rutted sections and some users have left the and is possibly best avoided to prevent further damage. Due to this years weather and the time of year the ground conditions across the network are likely to be wet and the going soft and this should be borne in mind when considering which byways to use.

sorry misunderstanding. what i ment was i could not find debden byway 75 mentioned in the national grid documents on road closures which document is it listed in..

In the email you recieved from ecc row it stated "More information about this closure and details of other public rights of way closed to facilitate these works can be found here: National Grid: Rights of Way and Road Closures"

That's because it's in the footpath closures document, along with footpaths and bridleways.

It helped that i talked to him on the phone as well. Established a 'rapport' after i let drop that i used to work at ECC as desktop support and maintained Highways PC's (and Windows CE tablets).

Also gave a chance to come across as NOT being a hairy arsed, dirt digging, Simex wearing 4x4'er. (didn't tell him i'm on this forum...:mooning: )
