After my time yesterday using my landy as a boat! I got it started tonight and running well to find there's a full tank of water and sadly mine does run on water! Drain plug and re fill then I'm back in te game!

Make sure you do the other checks mentioned and change oil and filters.
Have you got wading plugs, if not you will have water in the bell housing and will affect clutch. seek advise on that.

Well some research has shown that a lot people say if in ford or something you prob be ok as long as its not to often reference bell housing. As for oils you mean engine oil or every type of oil

If you not got extended breathers then you may find that water has entered the gear boxes/axles though the breathers if they are damaged/broken in use/age, I would check them all, just in case,

For example as the axle is cooled by the water around it the air is sucked back into the axle as it contracts inside, if you breather is blocked the it could be sucked in through the seals in the axle, also if the breather is broken and the break/crack is below the water line it will draw in water.

I am not sure how high the open breather ends are on a 90 but on a disco in that depth of water the is a possibly it could be sucked in, it worth just popping out the drain plug and renewing the oils any way it costs bugger all to do.

Sorry to sound thick! But I wouldn't no where to start to drain or fill them oils could you tell me where I would find them?

on the axles there are a large round bit that's the diff on that bit there are two bungs one to drain one to fill, bottom one is to drain , top one is to fill, fill back up to the level when it starts to run back out, also on the top of the axle you will find a pipe coming out this will be your breather this is what you have to extend.

But have a look at these
