Gutted I couldn't make it. I've got 3 big holes in my front outrigger. I started to patch it but it's too far gone.
But getting a new one welded wednesday so should make the next one.

Evening guys.

I know a lot of you have been to the essex pay and play at Chelmsford so was wondering is it possible to do much of it with road tyres or is it best to have mud/all terrains on.

Essex off road turns into a mud bog the second any water is introduced, I was struggling the other week and thats with sahara's on which are pretty aggressive mud tyres.

If you want somewhere for road tyres try Bures Pit, its usually alot more managable although even there I would still want AT's ideally but roads will get you round most of it, as long as it hasn't been raining recently...

To be honest I wouldnt use road tyres anywhere except the road. Whats the point of paying £30 to go somewhere and not try most of it?

That's kinda why I wanted to check to see what I could do, but by the sounds of what people are saying there's no point till I get the money for some mud terrains.

Thanks for the replies btw.

You would be supprised where some people cant get with MT's on even.... and you would problely be supprised where you can go with RT's.

At the edn of the day, yes RT's go get cloged, so do AT's, and MT's have there limitations as well.

You may be surprised what road tyres can do, in wales we took out a 110 with a guy called Richard "Jumbo" James around his own course and that was on standard road tyres, it loved it, had no real troubles and that involved water, this was at the wood park off road center...

Yer but a lot of South Essex is fully of clay so I would expect RTs to soon clog up, even MTs can struggle. I just wouldnt be happy paying £30 to find out i got stuck everywhere lol.

That is very true (although bures is north essex ;)), and yeah, I wouldn't want to spend a day getting stuck. Like I say a dry day I reckon it will be OK but I struggle on a few of the hills so RT's would deffo not do the more 'interesting' stuff!
