Well got myself an OS map of Col and Chelmsford and went for a drive. Found a couple of great lanes north of Coggashall and sound of Brantree.
Lot of fun and the truck still runs!
Gonna have a look at Ipswich and Sudbury next.

was ya out on ya todd or with some mates?Any pics?

Just my truck with a couple of mates on board, lanes were dry and pretty easy so no worries about getting stuck.

Only took a couple of pictures in the end though I think one of my passengers took quite a few.

Took the indicator out after catching a rather large oak tree whilst turning round lol.

Coming out of the only muddy bit, about 4ft long so not really a hassle

Also found a WW2 shelter, turns out it used to be part of a massive RAF airfield.

Good day out in the end, reckon it'll be great to drive on once its wet again.
Did knock my front diff on a bit on rock on one of the pot holes, small dent on it but nothing major. Diff guards turned up today so be popping those on.

Chris.

Sorry for the delay mate.
Here's the grid reference for google earth for the wooded area - 51.88673,0.660789
We also found a couple more lanes nirth of here.

Also i'm planning on going to the next Pay and Play day at Bures on the 12th of september but i'm wondering what equipment to bring.
So far I have a couple of strops, couple of large bow shackles, 8 ft metal chain, a few 5 tonne ratchet straps, snatch block and gloves.

I'm thinking a rope would be wise but can't decide whether to get something like this:
8 MTS X 24 MM 3 STRAND NYLON RECOVERY / TOW ROPE on eBay (end time 10-Aug-10 20:59:48 BST)

Or just get a kit like this:
BA2613 T-Max Winch Accessory Kit

As yet i have no winch and i don't reckon i'll have one before next month so its all manual stuff for now.

What do you guys take with you?

I use bures and ive just got recovery points front and rear and recovery rope.
if you do get stuck always someone to pull you out

I can, but dont know how to from my phone...when I get on a PC I'll do it (unless someone beats me to it..)

BUT, its just been graded, so the pikeys have probably been filling the lane by flytipping......or small children on scooters will get in your way.. :(
