Had a top day out, cheers boyz.
Did my alternator in the first time I went there, about 3 years ago.
Will give a good clean out tomorrow.

stu what was the symptoms of ur alternator when it failed?

The first one that went there was exactly what your've just said. no rev counter, red light , not charging.

The second one just seized up, smoke poured out from the bonnet thought it had caught alight....from the fan belt getting toooo hot, then snapped, which meant no water pump, and no power steering...... limped all the way home to Ipswich... stopping before it got too hot let it cool down lucky did no more damage... in over heated it and warped the head.....

In both cases they were, or should I say still, (as I ant fixed them yet) full of a very fine sand.

Check your Brake Pads as well.......

Give Everything a Power wash....

Pump the UJ's full of grease, along with your Prop Sliders, until clean grease comes out.

Also take note of any wheel bearing noise's as the stuff will get in any Knackered seals at the rear of your Hubs, if you do get a noise check them as its cheap to change the bearings before damaging the Hub or Stub Shaft.

ok thanks for that Stu will give it a good power wash tomorrow well glad you had the same issues rev counter and batt light i thought it was more serious than just an altornator still its a £100 down the pan :(

Matty you there got any alternator's my red batt light is on as soon as i come off the throtle grrrr

give it a good close jet wash with the engine running, if that don't free it up give it a good clout on a solid part always sorts mine out.

Normally the brushes get a bit of grit in them and they touch the slip rings.
