Hello guys,
I have a problem on my freelander 1 series 2.5 v6 ...
I have just rebuilt the engine and overhauled the automatic transmission, I did a nice job in short ... the only problem is that since then I remain in memory of the error P1225 BUTTERFLY BLOCKED.
In my opinion the car does not go as it should go ... with my mechanic we can not find the problem.
also occasionally when I walk I turn on the error light of the HDC and if I press the button or not does not do anything anyway ...
Would anyone please help me to solve these problems ???
Thank you

It's worth checking the VIS valves and actuators. The power valves are a know weak point and would reduce power noticeably.

Hi, the vis actuators have checked them and they work properly ...
as far as the valves are concerned, what do you mean?
What would they be and where do I find them positioned?
thank you

The power valves are sealed into the plenum chamber. If you remove the power valve VIS actuator, you can slide the control rod from side to side. If you hear anything rattling about when the rod is moved, then that could be the problem.

Edit:

P1225 is the throttle plate fault
You must have the US spec drive by wire system, which I'm not familiar with.
This is the Rover code description:
P1225 Throttle plate movement detection - no movement detected Throttle plate stuck (relates to throttle plate not the pedal)

practically if I did not understand those power valves you say should stay inside the intake manifold ...
and the vis you say should be the one that stays on the filter rather than on the side ...
I send for plate accelerator what do you mean?
Thank you so much ...

Sorry I not understand what you mean.

The power valves are part of the intake plenum which is under the filter housing. I've marked the power valve location in red, although they are inside the plastic plenum. The power valves actuator is on the left of the red line.

The throttle plate that the code is related to is marked in green. The electronic throttle assembly looks different to the picture, but it's in the same place on the engine.

Hi, I checked the auction you showed me and it seems to be fine ...
I also replaced the vis (even if what was mounted was working properly) I mounted another one I had in the garage ... now I could not connect the diagnosis to see if the error is still there, but the car it does not seem that much has changed!
I expose the precise problem that I have, maybe you can give me some more advice ...
the car is good enough, but under 3,000 rpm it is very slow ... especially uphill it seems that it can not take the laps when I accelerate, obviously accelerating a gear even more, and going over the same 3,000 laps later!
Then on the highway it locks at 185 km / h, when before I rebuilt the engine went more ...
Thank you very much for the help ...

It sounds like the VIS system isn't working correctly or the cam belt timing isn't spot on.
However if it's getting to 185 Kph, then there can't be to much wrong with it. From memory the top speed of the V6 is 112 Mph, or 181 Kph.

hello, today I connected the diagnosis and in the control unit there are other errors ...

Hi Nodge68,since you seem very experienced in the engine in question and in the various parts, I'll explain briefly the story of my freelander, maybe you can help me to solve the last things ...My free has been stopped almost a year for the reconstruction of the engine and automatic transmission, we did it in lost time with my mechanic ...Almost everything has been done in the engine: crankshaft bearings and connecting rods, piston rings and piston rings, head gaskets, partial replacement of the exhaust valves and the removal of the exhaust valves and suction valves ...We did a good job I think, only that remains some imperfection that escapes us and we do not know !!!As I previously told you the car under 3000 rpm is practically dead ... it has no strength, then above the same it is excellent ...I tried these days after your explanations to make checks and adjustments, the result is void ... nothing has changed and sincerely to me everything seems ok ... but it's wrong! As for the HDC light I managed to remove it by adjusting the throttle cable well, but now it gives me error P1595 and next to the error the diagnosis writes to me (62,61,15,95) Refer to the manual. Then the error remains P1225 Butterfly locked and I do not know how to act ...the most that worries me is the fact that on the back bank, under the variable geometry intake manifold I feel a lot to beat ...

Will the valves be?
The other bank in front (towards the bumper) there are no strange noises ...
Would it be the case, according to you, to check again all the timing of the distribution and of the camshafts?
Thank you very much for the useful answers you gave me and I hope you will give me ...

Another thing, a few days if I check the errors in the gearbox, sometimes I get out of error P1844 Rpm engine RPM error.
Do you have any idea what it could be? Thanks again...

hello, unfortunately due to the breakage of the oil pump I fused my 2.5 v6 engine ... I would not have to open everything, but to find a good engine to replace

could you please ask how much would you sell it?
the important thing is that it is an engine that goes well and with few km
thank you
