Ill warn you all im new to landrover fetteling - im a rover man but here goes

Father in law has a 2.7 Diesel Disco 3 (2006) he`s had it from new - LR service history

He`s used it to tow a very large caravan quite a few miles through europe (its been a load puller )

The hand brake was making a machien gunning noise when he came to ours in march - not always just occasionaly - there is no set pattern to when it made the noise

He`s informed me today that the hand brake has completely failed - as he presses the button and nothing at all happens

My questions are - Is there a fuse for the EPB ?

Could the acuator have failed - if so where is it I looked in march but couldnt find the acuator unit ?

Will it be a good idea to clean the drums out - is this easy (we have a couple of MG ZT`s that have the shoe in disc system similar to the disco so I have an idea of how it works but not with the electronics )

Thanks

Carl

I think that it works the rear pads, on the wind back caliper system. Not really that up on d3's but I know there is a common problem with park brake

from what I can gather its a set of drums in the center of the disc and the shoes are in there - BMW style

If im wrong then thats why I cant find anything out

Yes they are drum inside the disc, electronic actuator sits above the rear axle, quite a common failure on the D3's

is there any fuse to check before raving the actuator out ?

are the acuators repairable are are they disposable units ?
