Engine Stops-HELP!

These symptoms all smack of a crank sensor failing - which may not log a fault. This is because the engine can be stalled on take off with a manual car.Best way to sort this is to scope the crank sensor,(And the cam sensor while you are at it.)dont forget to re the engine up a bit during the test as another P38 crank sensor fault is when the plate comes loose that holds the sensor at the correct position in relation to the driveplate tangs. This often only shows a fault as the vibration moves the backplate around and it all goes wrong.

Many thanks, I'm trying to get hold of a new Crank Sensor. Does it simply bolt on? or does it need any setting up or positioning?

Yes it does just bolt on,but it would be better to get it scoped before fitting a new one to make sure that is what the issue is.

Many thanks Guys Andyb66 & Eightenavee for all you help. It was the Crankshaft sense, managed to change it ! needed double jointed fingers to get the fixing screw out & in.

PROBLEM- now is the ABS light stays on with ABS FAULT on dash + I get EAS FAULT with all the lights flashing on height switch.

Any ideas please.
