Engine stalls when driven hard and will not restart

Hi everyone,
I have a 1996 Disco 300 TDi auto that has just started stalling at the most [FONT=&quot]inconvenient [/FONT]places!
It seems if I keep to 45 then it does not want to stall of its own accord, but when I drive more that 50 and up to 70 it just stalls.
I then have to wait for about 20 mins for something to cool down enough to allow starting again. The other day it died about 5 times, then after an hour it was started then managed to drive about 100 miles back home at 45 mph !
Have just replaced turbo with a second hand one as original was leaking oil. Went out for a drive and it stalled again. After an hour it started but only for about 30 seconds as it then died again.

Recent repairs:
Replaced vacum pump.
Replaced turbo and exhaust manifold with EGR blanked off.

When I checked the header tank after driving then stalling for about 10 mins, the coolant was only pressurised a small amount and I'm not loosing any water at all.

I'm just at a loss to know what to check now.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It's when its warm.
it ran for about 7 minutes, then when I reach dual carriageway, did 70, go to roundabout then it stalled when I started to go round it.
Other times it just stalls on straight roads.

Seems to be when I go over 50.

I had to get recovered last night.

Wil nip out in 5 mins and try it.
It will probably start up straight away and be ok around town, as it has been doing for the last week.
 
Just started it ok, and drove down the road about 100 metres.

So a problem when engine is warm and being faster than 50.

Will look into how to test the fuel pump

Will change it this morning.
Seems I have done 10,000 miles since last service just over 4 months ago!
Have also ordered a new water pump as it is squealing.
 
Have put a new filter on.
No difference though.
5 minutes after starting the large hoses to the intercooler are squashing themselves then the engine stalls.
 
Have removed the intercooler, doesn't appear to be blocked and I can blow down it ok. Am getting it cleaned out tomorrow, there is a bit of oil in the bottom.
The air filter was dirty, so will change that, pipes are ok, no blockages.
The water pump has been replaced as it was squealing.
The two thermostat housing bolts are a pain And are sticking, so will spray and leave for a few days.
The fuel lift pump lever is now very loose and there is no resistance when I move it up and down, so have ordered another one today.
The two small Intercooler hoses on the long metal pipe seem very floppy so will replace those, as well as the two on top from intercooler to inlet manifold.
Will report back when these things are done. Will be next week when the parts come.
 
Someone suggested that the Crank Position Sensor may be to blame as there are no diagnostic codes and engine dies when hot and fails to start?
