Did we get an answer on which model , the landmark is? Cos I is reading blind here
That might be the "Sale Of Goods Act" where stuff has to last for a minimum of 5 years in order to be considered to be of "merchantable quality"?There is something about what your friend said. Warranty is 3 years but you have other rights
-5/6 years for something like engine failure, guy I knew took a dealer to court and won on it. Was while ago though my memory is shot
Thanks everyone I will keep you posted, still in a bit of shock I have to say.... waiting for the phone call from LR

Not quite and that's where people get confused. That might be the "Sale Of Goods Act" where stuff has to last for a minimum of 5 years in order to be considered to be of "merchantable quality"?
Thanks, as always, Gary . Take it landmark is just a trim? Or is it something special. I could go check google , but I've got the font of Disco knowledge , right hereHiya
It’s a discovery 4 landmark, they didn’t put a SDV6 in the sport
As a side note discovery 5 came out 2017 , they also have the SDV6 and been known to fail
ps, @gold rover , just re checked my facts and edited my reply above

ur very welcome , landmark is indeed just a trim level, is above the HSE with extra toys
have got a trim level menu somewhere, will see if I can find it for u
It's ok. If it's anything like Range Rovers, trim can be added to , or bits removed.
20-inch split-spoke alloy wheels
black-painted bumper vents
mirror caps and grille
full-length, silver roof rails and Landmark badges on the bodywork.
As a further bonus, the Landmark exclusively debuts a new copper-coloured paint called Zanzibar. The model’s also available in four other, more subtle, shades, including our test car’s classy-looking Waitomo Grey. Inside, there are softer leather seats than you’ll find in any other Discovery, and various colour and trim options, too, including black lacquer veneer or grained-walnut finishing.
Soooooo....... a 21st century, Chelsea Tractor I see quite a lot of those around here. Spoke to a BA pilot the other day, 'quote I bought it for it's looks, and in case it snows, but I'm lucky if I drive once a month, and I'm not sure I'd drive in the snow. I don't know how to drive in those conditions."
I continued to nod and smile, nod and smile
Yes, indeed. But the "Merchantable Quality" and "Fit for Purpose" requirements should be good grounds for a claim of breach. Not quite and that's where people get confused.

You have up to six years to take a claim to the small claims court for faulty goods in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and five years in Scotland.
This doesn't mean that a product has to last six years - just that you have this length of time in which to make a claim if a retailer refuses to repair or replace a faulty product
Basically , there are different time periods for each bit. They have a 'warranty' in law for two years. You have up to 6 (5) years to submit the claim, from breakdown of communications. Not that goods have to work for 6(5) years.

Discovery 3 SDV6 landmark.
I’ve just heard from the garage, LR have asked for some oil samples, don’t know why because my garage have always dealt with the oil.
Apparently they have found some metal chards, and was told at this stage they don’t want to confirm or mislead me but will get back to me next week
...and as an even further bonus JLR have added big-end shells that slip out of place and starve the bearing of oil.....allegedly.20-inch split-spoke alloy wheels
