Just fitted new timing belt and all tensioned as required.

Had to fit a second hand FIP

All timed as procedure

Engine runs fine no knocking or any suggestion advance or retarded timing

Ok now my problem

When I switch off the engine she runs on for a few seconds maybe 5/10 seconds BUT NOT EVRYTIME before stopping

I have goggled to i am blue in the face and IT APPEARS everything points to the stop solenoid on the FIP

Can it be this simple OR am I missing something else??

As julianf said, remove the stop solenoid and thoroughly check/clean it, if your replacement pump has been sitting a while the solenoid may be gunked up, it opens with an electromagnet when you turn the key but it only has alight spring to close it when off, that will be causing your "run on", no fuel=no run!

Cheers Lads
As I said after much goggling I also believe its the stop solenoid, yes the FIP was laying for a long time under the work bench
will just replace the solenoid as it comes with a new spring and see how she goes........................................................cheers

The one i purchased had an (in my opinon) poorly formed plunger / piston (the moving part) so, iirc, i actually used the plunger from my old unit, and just replaced the coil.

Its an easy job (providing yours is not one of the ones with the security shell arround the solenoid) however, i did have to get a spanner on the grinder to make it thinner.

I also had stuttering when i first started in the morning - like bunny hops / jerking as i first drove off. I assume this was as it was not opening correctly, as that all went away when i changed it also.
