Morning all.

I would really like to paint my engine the duck egg blue colour like the re con military engines.

My question is does painting the whole engine hinder the engines cooling abilities?

I know this is the job of the rad and thermostat is to cool but some heat must radiate from the block and head.

Would layers of paint stop the heat from radiating and cause high engine temps?

no it won’t not at all, the block gets hot but the cooling is done by the water circuit, you are fine to paint.

Make sure you use a paint that is high temp resistant though or it will just peel off. Degrease everything well first and make sure you tape up anything you don’t want painted

don’t bother painting the exhaust manifold as it will just burn off.

Mine seems ok since I did this last year

Used an old can of cheap rust preventative paint on the shelf in the garage, metallic green or something like that. Did some deacent degreasing first. Now its one and a half years into it and it is fine.
