Series 3 Engine out top or bottom?

2.25 petrol engine needs to come out. Head's already off. No3 needs rebore/sleeve etc.
The Landy 109 ex mil is in an awkward position where I couldn't get a conventional engine crane in if I tried - and is on a slight downhill slope. Can't move it for various reasons.
The crux of my question is whether it is sensible to drop the engine out of the bottom, or must I pull it out of the top? Is dropping possible, or am i going to hit a serious snag along the way? I need to find a way that minimises brute-force manhandling because I am old and don't like pain and hospitals.
Your wise counsel would be very welcome!

You will still need something to lift even just the block out. Perhaps make a heavy wooden platform where an engine crane can placed. with grill off you will not have to lift block very high.

To strip properly and over what ground engine crane not good at distances unless ground smooth and level, the block itself manageable by two carrying it but not walking far , maybe an option to strip while it’s hanging on crane to reduce weight , a trolley would be useful

while the engine is stripped down I thought I’d check it’s weight Bare block apart from camshaft is approx 85kg so I’ll stick with the crane for lifting it!

Nothing is impossible, but that sounds like a really difficult way to remove an engine IMO.

No offence, but if the vehicle is in a poor position to work on. I’d have thought moving the vehicle would be the most sensible option. Engine blocks are bloody heavy. It’s not as if you can lean in and just lift them out by hand.
