Series 3 Engine Mountings

Hi, After changing clutch and engine mounting I now have vibration at idle of about half inch amplitude at steering wheel. And it hurts!
any one else experienced this and ID the cause? wrong engine mount???
ideas on a postcard please.....

I ended up buying a good number of different engine and gearbox mounts until I found some that actually did the job they are meant to. The pattern parts from ebay and Britpart were made of the wrong materials and were just too hard to do their job. I can't remember where I found them but I got some NOS ones (may have been from Craddocks) that were quite old (1970's packaging) and they worked far better and don't seem to have disintegrated due to age. IIRC the Rimmer Bros ones were second best followed by Bearmach. Some ones off ebay were the worst - absolutely rock solid plastic instead of rubber followed by Britpart which were too hard and delaminating.. If you're stuck I can have a look in my box of bits to see what I have kicking around but I didn't mark them up as to source.

The other thing I meant to mention is that a slight tweak of the idle speed can stop the worst steering wheel rattle...
