Could have shorted it somewhere so its making a connection somewhere it shouldnt (Or alternatively something going to the wrong connection at the ignition switch). Sounds like you're always getting a positive feed through the ignition, Dash lights could be connected somehow to the brake light switch circuitt so I'd trace wires and see what shouldnt be connected

What engine is it? My 2.5 has an electric fuel solenoid on a switch and will run with the key out till i flick the switch off (Alternator doesnt charge though)

You've got a short circuit/ open circuit on that circuit. I have a rear spot but its wired via a further terminal at the back. Something is causing it.my rear spot is wired separate to the main lights. How is yours wired up. I've just had a niggly issue with my fuses. Sodding trailer plug caused a short and burnt out various fuses. Fuses will not be the problem if the circuit is still live after switching the ignition off. Earthing somewhere else?

If it is a series three clean the fuses and fuse holder. I have had all sorts of strange thing like indicator warning lights glowing on the dash.
Auto electrician mate said clean fuses and all was sorted.

ok , all sorted , took all fuses out and checked them , they all seemed good , put them back in , this solved dash lights issue , however over run issues was ongoing , messed with wires for a while and all seems good .

Thankn for advice,

Was there a particular wire that seemed to be out of place? Or was it just a generalised wobble and fiddle?
