Embarrassed to ask.....

You guys ask all sorts of really technical questions about roof linings, axles, EGA valves and all that good meaty stuff... so I feel a bit embarrassed asking about cup holders.
Anyone pulled them out of a series 2 on the front console?. Is there anything special I need to know? The damn thing wouldnt come out when pressed on the detent, so after a bit of brute force and ignorance I got it to come out. Now it wount go in and stay in. Any one played with these things before?

Yea, I managed to break mine, now its a pull out with a crowbar, and push back with a hammer job... It should go back in, but its a real pain...
