Am I right in thinking that the mirrors heat all the time when the engine is running, mine are not.

My windscreen clears on drivers side only. Which relay does which half in the fuse box? Just want to check them, and the fuses.

Thanks.

yep they run continuous...

No relayas far as I can see in the schematic, but the heater element is supplied and grounded through the Door Outstation...

Schematics attached....

Fed from BeCM to Outstation, then out to mirror...

Relay 5 powers L/H side of screen. When relay 5 is pulled in by Hevac unit it also pulls in relay 4 to power R/H side of screen.

The mirrors as others have said heat all the time but not for long being a P38. The mirror itself fails and if you have the photochromatic ones they are an arm and a leg to replace. Mine failed ages ago, they won't be replaced.
Same goes for the heated screen, the elements fail.:)

Bugger! It is the right side only that clears. So the relays must fine, if 5 pulls in 4.

So fault elsewhere.

You can try connection and earth point and screen continuity. But you will have to remove plenum intake panel from below the wind screen to do that. Feeds are known to detach from screen.

Opportunity to get that bugger of a plenum filter changed :)

Oh Sh!t....just noticed Rachel was asking about Heated Screen and not Mirrors....

Sorry Rachel, my bad - yes Screen is via two relays as mentioned.

(must read post more carefully, must read post more carefully, must read post more carefully, must read post more carefully....)

Nip down to the swingers club tonight and unwind. It's amazing what a good session will do for you. PS. Make sure he is wearing a condom. :D:D:D

Thanks both. I tried to remove this before to get at the GPS aerial, but could not get it to lift off after removing the screw. Kinda stuck under that strip at the bottom of the windscreen?

The best way to remove the strip at the bottom of the windscreen is to remove the side trim and then grip the end and pull the trim strip off in a sliding motion. If you try to lever it off you will break all the mounting clips.

LOL, how do I take the side trim off.......... there's a hole in my bucket dear Liza....... :)

Offical way is to use a credit card or similar to slide under the strip and slide the white plastic clips to the side to allow removal - the only problem is I can't remember which way you have slide the clips!

Thank you. Well not knowing which way they go, will make the job that more exciting
