 I wonder if you can help? My P38 1996 all of a sudden lost control of its electrics, no indicators, no lights, no wipers, no locking, headlights continually flash when engine is running, comp says regulator fault, garage says no it will be a fuse?changed fuses no different  can anyone suggest anything please ta

Hi, Check the 4 main cables on the fuse box side of the Becm under the drivers seat. The 3 to the right should be carrying battery volts with the ignition off. The black one to the left should be 0 volts and 0 resistence to ground. Check the end of this Earth cable where it bolts to the floor. It can come loose and cause electrical faults.
Also disconect all plugs to the becm check for corrosion and refit. The engine bay fuse box also could be at fault but this can be tested with your becm so you dont have to waste £100 on guesing

If you have no luck have a look at my site Range rover Becm Repaired & Programmed at a fraction of the cost!

Let me know if i can help

Thank you mteckuk for your help checked what you suggested all was well so took car into auto electrician to be checked came back with a clean bill of health so I am now stumped?????? at the moment car is running brilliant!!!! Just a gremlin???????

That’s good news. Let’s hope it stays away. Every time I repair a P38, I let rip with a can of Penetrating oil (WD40) on all the connections and wiring loom. It works a treat and can prevent future problems. Wire rotting and green terminals ect. The fuse box and the back of the light clusters
especially.
