electric windows & central locking kits

Hi Everyone,

I have a defender (2004, 110, 300tdi) it does not have central locking and it has manual windows. I'm looking to get a kit for both of these so I can get electric windows and central locking.

Has anyone had any experience with this and would recommend a certain kit?

Maplins sell central locking kits.

try a Breakers yard, if you take your own tools + strip it yourself they'll prob charge you less too

Have you ever used this kit yourself? do you know if its a DIY job or best to take it to a mechanic to get it fixed on.

Im overseas so I don't have the privilege of lots of scrap yards. Any that are scraped here will be manual windows and no central locking.

No but it's just a set of accuators and a couple of wires. Can't be that hard. 1 master unit fits to drivers door and slave units are fitted to remaining doors. Wired from the Master unit.

seen! but have you tried an online breaker, ebay search or google?

i retrofitted my vectra with leccy windows -£60 the full kit on ebay, only took an hour as wiring was already there for it so just a plug + play job.
could try emailing someone who's breaking one on ebay (other reputable auction websites are available ) + ask them how much for the parts.

Found the central door locking kit in my local automotive shop cost me 70bds which is about 20 pound.

Now have just ordered the following link to get me some leccy windows.
