Ok, I've read 14.643 billion treads on this, but either my landy is different, or I'm just thick. Personally I'm going with the latter.

No discussion on why remove the thing or how to blank. I accept thats done to death. I'm talking about connecting wires and solenoid etc. On thread I read said just follow the wires from the EGR to the EGR Solenoid and rip it all out. Great. Mine don't look that simple. See pics.

1. Easy. The EGR, with vac hose heading north, lecy plug with wires heading south.

2. EGR Solenoid? vac hose entering near base, lecy plug with wires heading east also very small dia hose, arching towards top of bulkhead. This is not just for the EGR me thinks. Just blank of the EGR vac near this unit and it can stay?

3. Wires from EGR appear to be wired into the alternator and exit, see top left.?

4. Other side of alternator, left side of block, now we have clapham ****ing junction.

I guess I could just tie back the plug from the EGR and forget about it. But don't like the idea of reduntant bits of crap hanging about in me bay.

Cheers for any advice. Best answer gets a pint on Thursday.

Cheers dude, seen that one though. I don't understand why there is virtually nothing on the electical connections. Blank off the connecting vac hose, ok thats logical.

Link below is one of the better ones I've found. In last pic, looks like he just put a baggie round the plug and strapped it out the way.

The second link, shows the one where he pulls the EGR solenoid. My connection dont look like this.

Just unplug the connector at the EGR valve, wrap it in some cling film or similar and tie it back somewhere safe.
Remove the stainless flexible pipe from the exhaust manifold and blank off hole.
Dont forget to plug the vacuum tube otherwise your brakes will be a tad hard.
You never know if they change the legislation you may have to put it all back for your MOT. Hold on to the bits and bobs because they may be like rocking horse **** if you do need them.
