how is it stand with current MOTs on the egr delete

to-date .. they've been no reports on this forum [ that i can recall ] of mot issues due to fitting an egr-delete unit
however if your worried .. keep a clean egr device handy to refit for mot.
it's only 4 bolts 'n a vac hose .. and the exhaust feed clip ..

certainly less particle emissions without the egr
[ so far as to nullify the emissions test in some cases as the machine don't register 'owt ]
as for the n.o.x. .. there's no test in the mot ..
and keeping a lightfoot on the go pedal would probably help reduce n.o.x. emissions
[ the recirculated exhaust gas via the egr is supposed to cool the combustion
[ therefore reducing n.o.x. production

Many thanks for the info..
I will get on with my service items and during so will take off the EGR If only to clean, but Is all down to what i find.
I only work now at snail speed on car and vespa scooter bits, and as usual left it all in the better weather till the last minute..I can play the "old age card" now Im old aged..lol

I find the Shell V power diesel makes mine run better. As for the EGR delete, people say it's a possible MOT failure, but I don't think I've heard anyone who's done a delete report a failure as a result of it.

It will fail if they spot it's been blocked as they would have to record it as blocked/tampered with. Some have been spotted but not on a FL yet. Most cars have an engine cover in the way.

Thanks all.
Must be honest I dont go out much lately under our lock down rules
plus my seemingly never ending Hospital visits, but, to aid freezing my brass monkeys off, i have started making and fitting "Roll up sides" on my car port, made from stout wooden lengths fitted to very heavy duty black plastic sheeting securely fitted to the top side beams of car port, used nice shiny stainless pulleys and new blue strong nylon rope going from the top beam round the bottom beam, then just pull the two lengths of rope and it rolls up the sides, to be secured by a simple wooden cleat, to let it unroll is the reverse.
But why ?
well planning gets a bit twitchy where I live so to conform with rules and regs of a car port, it has to have at least 2 open sides, of which they are. (until i unroll the plastic sides during the day) when (big when then) Im outside working on freelander...
Next I plan a roll up entrance "door" in clear reinforced heavy duty plastic to the same idea..
Sadly I dont like laying or working on cars out in the cold any more, i left that to younger heros of one I used to be..
At worst I will play my old age card being "only" 72 years old..lol
Ok, thanks all, keep safe, keep happy, keep LR happy also..

They wouldn't spot it on my FL1 either, as I just cleaned out the EGR and isolated the vac feed.

I like, no, LOVE this type of near zero cost practical type of modification. I did this on my Peugeot Partner. Mind you, I also removed the crankcase breather return to the inlet manifold and put a breather filter on. Why do I mention this? Well, I was rolling down a hill recently and the engine coughed and barfed a bit. The filter had clogged in a minor way. Relevance being in regard to the crankcase breather filter problems on the freelander 1 TD4. I have a brand new cyclone to go on my recent acquisition.

For me the EGR is not the problem with motors, it is the recirculation of oil mist (in higher mileage motors) from crankcase recirculation back into the inlet manifold. The exhaust gases just help the oil mist congeal into the **** that everyone moans about.

Sorry if I stirred up the old hornet's nest... But I am not wasting £25 or whatever when I can do it for zero. That's negligent.

REET SO GO BUY ONE FIRST. . . .Strip off these bits[1]
jpg.gif
ok take off old egr[four bolts] undo the turbo electrical plug lhs [push metal plunger in and push down to realease] undo rhs electrical grommet with cables ,undo all manifold bolts and pull off ,should end up here [2]
jpg.gif
using Slobs idea use oven cleaner to clean plastic manifold ,wash out with water, i did it three times [3]
jpg.gif
sorry bout young Porky. . . . .take off all the seals and check um/and clean ,smeer with anti sieze and when dry put mani fold back ,if your not confident on motors use the correct tourque remember this is plastic to ally[4]
jpg.gif
fit new egr blanking plate, I found it tight and had to put screw driver in the holes to line it [smeer wiff anti seize on mate faces][5]
jpg.gif
put every thing back and double check. . . .put a screw or ball bearing in egr vacuum hose and cable tie it in a safe place [so it wont flap in the fan houseing] last check start motor [mine went first time] then test run . . . . .job done ,refere to heinz manwell un rave fer details. . . . .i wood like to thank Porky fer his tecknickle help un no how . . . . .well he did the whole job really i wez int pub :) :) :)
