help please. i am thinking of buying a egr blank kit for td5 defender 110 02. when fitted will any warning lights apear in cab.? also is it realy a worthwhile,, any advice would be great,thanks.
 
I fitted a kit to my Defender TD5 and noticed no difference whatsoever, apart from my wallet being lighter by £60
 
It is worth doing though!

If you're feeling tight like I do most of the time you can just make a plate up and sandwich it in-between the egr pipe and exhaust manifold

thanks for replys,, not what i expected to be honest thought they would be glowing reports to remove egr,just shows what differant people think, may put on wait list and see what comes up..
 
Next year some of the regulations change regarding emission-limiting equipment fitted to diesels. My info is that this shouldn't affect Defender EGRs but....is it likely that interfering with the OEM exhaust gas recirculator will cause a problem at MoT time in future?

I blanked mine off with a welded plate on the manifold since I managed to break one of the screws holding the EGR on, and then broke the Easyout trying to remove it. Ever tried drilling one of those out? After an hour I gave up.:(
 
thanks for input, the reason iam thinking of blanking egr is the last month this td5 has bieng playing up as this,, running fine turbo cutting in drives fine untill coming to a standstill then for no reason goes into limp mode but no warning lights show,. if i turn off engine and restart its fine again. i could drive 100 miles fine then as soon as you stop at eg lights for awhile guess what back int limp mode untill i restart.. as i am not engine savvy just wondering any advice from u guys before i take it to be plug in for faults.even tried the turbo cleaner gear in fuel but to no avail,, ANY IDEAS FOLKS?
 
You will end up spending good money and risk not resolving the problem if you go that route of changing things in a hope of finding the cause, do as advised above and get your defender plugged in to a diagnostic machine to show up the faults.
 
took the truck to my local garage, 45 pound to hook up to diagnostic job,, turned out to be map sensor not working new boshe sensor installed, job done back to normal.
