Hi all, decided to finally get around to blanking egr today. My disco has egr cooling and the instructions I've read say leave it in place and just blank the exhaust pipe closest to the egr. However, the coolant to reservoir pipe PCH001360 was very brittle and broke, I finished the job and just blanked either end where the broken pipe was (reservoir & egr cooler).. Question is, I'm assuming I've blanked the return to the reservoir, and if that's the case, the coolant feed is still on the egr cooler? Is that going to be a problem.. build pressure and blow my blank etc..

If that's the case, can I just use some rubber hose to reconnect, £50 sounds steep for another ridgid return pipe?

Thanks in anticipation of any thoughts.. Cheers

The coolant flow into the EGR cooler comes from the back of the oil cooler, and it just goes from the oil cooler into the EGR cooler into the expansion tank.
On the 15p/16p TD5 it only exists to feed the EGR cooler so it doesn't matter when the EGR is blanked.
As it's blanked off to the expansion tank you can blank it off at the back of the oil cooler with an 18mm silicon blank - which is what I did, then removed the coolant pipework to the EGR cooler and then the cooler completely.

Thanks for response, I'd like to leave the cooler in place for now just to make sure there's no issues with mot etc.. So I could easily reinstate if needed. But from what your saying it sounds like I shouldn't have an issue having just blanked the "far end" of the egr cooler rather than the input?

I had been thinking in terms of flow and return, but on reflection, guess when the cooling system is up to pressure, it's at that pressure throughout? So as long as there's other ways for the coolant flow around the main system, I should be OK?

Appreciate the correct way to do it will be to completely remove, as you've done, so to reduce potential points that could leak etc..

Cheers

Brilliant thanks.. The missus is taking 6 of her friends to the brecon beacons which is 1.5 hours from us on sunday, so fingers crossed.. I'll give it a run around over the Friday/Saturday to make sure my blanks hold!
