EDIT IT IS A 300TDI NOT 200!!!!

Recently got my hands on a 300tdi engine and gear box. To replace the 19j.

How much of an arse is it to do?

New engine mounts:
- Do the old ones need cutting out?
- Will the 19j ones fit on 300tdi, or will it drop straight in?
- Will anything need moving back?

Gearbox:
- Will the 300tdi box fit straight in?
- Will the box i'm already using work?

I am a fair decent mech, and a plater by trade so not really much I can't do. And have the mate I got the engine off for the more intrecate bits.

Anything i've missed?

I think the gearbox is an lt77 and was used on the 2.5's and the 200tdi so should be the same anyway.
The engine uses the same mounts as well but dunno about moving the rad.

Edit.....there is one proviso though if its an ex disco gearbox the bellhousing is too long and all sorts of fettling is needed.

Came out a 90 I think.

Having a look at the 19j mounts compaired to the 200 they look completely different. Wasn't sure if it was still a case of drop straight in.

Just had a look through the parts list and it says nothing about engine mounts.
Starting to think this is what I am commonly calling 'Jason engineering' seems everything I look at has been bodged within an inch of it's life.
(Wish i'd taken pics of them all).

Hopefully it will drop straight on with no fuss along with gearbox.

I've had 2.5n/a's and 200 tdi's and I'm pretty sure the engine mounts were the same on both.
It was the 300tdi that was different.

I agree with Joe, it doesn’t list them for the 200 because you don’t need them. Personally I’ve looked at changing my na to a 300tdi but I’ve opted to keep original for now, the 300 definitely has different mount positions.

I’ve seen multiple recommendations for Steve Parker kits on various sites which is why I keep them in mind.

The mounts don't look too hard to fab up and then weld in place.

Hopefully just be a case of:

Fab engine mounts,
Get engine in and in line,
Stitch on mounts,
Remove engine,
Fully weld mounts in place.
