what about testing the battery by swapping the battery to another vehicle or put a good battery into landy,

although my landy had no ammeter when the batterey was goosed and you find this out in winter it would not turn over the diesel, new battery sorted it completely

i'd be checking out your newly installed stuff. do you have fuses on the stuff coming straight off the battery?? might be worth disconnecting the new stuff and seeing what happens.


also, why not take the +ve feed from the fuse box on the dash for the stereo and lights or if you really wanted a permenent feed you could take a jumper off the +ve feed to the ignition switch. saves all the extra wires going to the battery. :confused:
 
Hmm, well each to their own, but I would much rather feed through extra wires than take of other sources. I find it easier to isolate problems that way. Also, paricularly on a vehicle which I didn't know every wire and every terminal, and particularly on something which needs decent-ish grade wire like the spot lights, I'd rather run a new cable for piece of mind.

But I would say doobie has a good point, if when you test the alternator and thats fine, unplug stereo and lights and see if they make a difference.

i suppose it would be easier for fault finding, especially if your in the middle of no-where! if you know what your doing then i suppose there's not going to be a problem, i've just seen to many shoddy wiring jobs done by eejits! :D
 
Sorted now, thanks for you help guys. although it was something much simpler and much more stupid. Basically, the plug that goes into the alternator had become dislodged and was just hanging on, so pressed. Job done, OOOPPSS!

Don't I feel like a tit. At least it was only something small like that and not a more sinister problem. Thanks anyway everyone!

Did ya put any vasoline on the connections? this will help the connection be better. also you can get a clip that hold the plug in.
