hi
Looking for some advise have just purchased a 2002 disc mk2 td5
Some dash lights stay on permanently been advised this is the ecu's not communicating
The vehicle performs excellently for over a year with this problem with no issues.
Any ideals please or advise

I do have a 1999 td5 with same engine could I use the ecu units of the vehicle if so would I need to have any programming done ?

First of all which warning lights? post a pic with the dash or explain,... the '99 engine ECU has an Eu2 fuel map and the '02 needs Eu3 cos it has different injectors, also the transmission must be the same...it's not that simple as it appears..that theory with ECUs not comunicating is a bit hazardous though cos then it would not run either

Help

I assume the Handbrake light is on because you are parked?

What you have there is the 3 amigos, If you search it you will be amazed at the amount of info, LOL.
Look at getting it on Diagnostics to find the problem as it can be a number of things.

A cheeky question, how did it pass an MOT with the warning lights on?

Cheers

The "handbrake" light can be part of the amigos as well but the gist is that these lights have nothing to do with the engine ECU, you need to read the fault code/s form the ABS ECU, fix things and that's all, as said if you search for 3 amigos you'll see it's not something uncommon nor very hard or expensive to fix
