Economy and how it can be improved

As part of increasing economy, I wanted to reduce inefficiency and I really do dislike single coil and distributor setups - they provide low spark energy, require maintenance and are susceptible to damp thereby causing misfires and wasting fuel.

So....

Ooh where did that go?

Ah there it is! ready to go off to its new home, possibly in an a35....

Now what can I plug the hole with?

This'll do...

Accidentally fully rebuilt with ported and skimmed heads, Falcon SS 4 branch manifolds and a high torque cam....

Ooh look, it fits!

.................and this is all in search of greater efficiency and economy?

;););););):rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Yeah right - the missus was watching while you posted wasn't she?:D:D

It's not slow now... mind you I haven't really opened the taps up yet - what with it being essentially a brand new engine :S Economy seems better too - normally I'd run out at 60 miles on the dinky petrol tank I have but it's still showing 1/3 of a tank left....

Did you ever do your running underwater thing you wanted to try? I'm game if you are now the dizzy's gone!

Hey mate.

Yeah I guess once you've run her in you should be able to unleash the horsepower :D

No I didn't but I really should, just kinda scared of the worst case scenario :p

Me too, but we have to show the dirty diesel buggers that v8s can wade!... maybe we need a couple of others ready to pull us out should the worst happen though....

I know it can wade, its been very wet:

the question is, can i trust my valley gasket having it submerged.

im not sure!

Yeah the valley gasket is a weird idea. Thinking about it I should have made an aluminium plate to fill the void whilst I had mine apart.... That's how Chevy do it...

Just out of interest, what pressures are you running your tyres at? Ive got a manual 3.9 on 285's and get around 15-18 mpg runnung at 38psi.

Yep

The fact that anything over 20mph makes it go BAHHHHHHHHHHH and when on the motorway it sounds like a Supermarine Spitfire is flying overhead is a true indication of how resistive they are!

I live in Hucknall - Where Rolls Royce have an airfield. Occasionally Spitfires fly overhead. When they do it's time to down tools go outside and listen.... Bliss!

Have you got any pics of the pitbulls Sam?

This picture is doing the rounds today!
