Ebay .... More Dodgy Defenders......?

As an aside 'economic repair' or rather beyond economic repair is where it costs more to maintain a car in a road worthy (MOT able) state than it is worth.

Most Defenders when they require a new chassis fall into this category - not saying peeps do not do this but many are scrapped out and broken for spares.

I personally have brokenhalf a dozen and oddly whilst selling the more valuable parts every time I have been approached to sell the V5 and VIN plates.

Hence my original post - sorry for patronising the majority on here but one or two struggle with the basics.

mate my 90 from 86 and the chassis is solid, the rests a bit rough round the edges mind. the mystery eletrical problem dissapeared after coming on here tho so i guess u cant get more economical than that:p what is economic about a defender anyway? mines drinking diesel like its fookin cider:eek:

Oi retard, you've been here 60 posts and you're already the big man. Why don't you **** off and don't post again. There's also no defender that is beyond economic repair because they will always be repaired. Now **** off.

Nice post, are you always this pleasant? No thought not, genuinely feel sorry for those who know or even live near you.

Truly the most cretinous reply on here for some time (look it up khaos - in a 'dictionary').

i think its fishy

look at the dash / stearing wheel the same as my 300tdi it used to red and it had a quick respray in blue.

also note how he says the v5 is in his name rather then the more regular paperwork all present approach.

I have posted up what to my experienced eye is a ringed motor.

I would stake a grand its ringed yet clearly some on here are happy to remain ignorant and would I assume consider purchase - thus continuing the theft of our cars.

Sorry...struggling to see what the problem is here....
If the vehicle was advertised as a "straight" 1986 90 then there might be cause for uproar.
If it was advertised as a 1998 300tdi then again, there would be cause for complaint.
Neither applies. Vendor has listed the things he has done/replaced - things that many on this forum - and others - do on a regular basis. All such parts and extras are freely available. There is absolutely nothing to indicate that any parts were stolen. It would be up to any prospective buyer to ask to see receipts etc - if they were that bothered or at all suspicious. Enquiries with the local off-roaders would no doubt also help allay any doubts.

I do have an issue with the price however...and that's after it failed to sell at £4800 :D

I do agree with your post 22

Your missing the point.

The claim to have replaced things is the cover, the truth is everything has been replaced with someone elses stolen truck, not individually but in one fell swoop.

The car is entirely a 300Tdi never anything else - whether its a 98 I cannot say, probably not and merely claimed as this adds value compared to saying 94'.

All thats been changed are the plates, VIN and a poor respray/paint plus some extras to help move the disguise on.

The bulkhead story is exactly that - a story.

So Defender experts whats on this vehicle that could only be on a 85/86 cos I reckon zip.

That is only your opinion...there is absolutely no evidence to back it up.

Duh only 12 pictures.

How much evidence do you need, better yet what evidence have you got that I am wrong?

I am continually amazed at the hand wringing displayed when someone comes on here and says their Defender has been pinched yet truly many on here are only too willing to go along with the ongoing trade of buying stolen parts and whole cars.

Like I said in the OP - nothing is 1985, everything is 300tdi spec.

The part that makes me suspect the seller knows this is the claim to a new bulkhead.... must have been very lucky to find it painted in the same Riocha red the rest of the car was before it was treated to a quick disguise of mid blue.

Perhaps this is the fun part of this thread spot the differences except this time you need to try and find anything that ties the car with its year plate.

I for one could not but maybe I've missed something?

The only thing that seems dodgy to me is that he doesn't say how many miles are on the reconditioned engine.
Otherwise I'm sorry I've got to agree with most other folk.
How many of us can say our Landrovers are 100% original.

I know I cant and I also know that mine is neither a ringer nor stolen ........

Try looking up EVIDENCE in the dictionary.....

Are you being stupid on purpose?

Photos are evidence and each one of those show a 94 onward Defender.

Nothing in any of them is an 1985/6 90.

If I was doing a thesis on why so many Defenders get stolen the willingness of owners to ignore the facts and pretend / cover up the reality would surely explain part of the problem.

Very interesting - except perhaps to the terminally thick on here.

Nobody is denying that there are 94-98 add-ons....but you have no EVIDENCE that they are stolen.

Feck me the IQ quotient for Landrover owners I appreciate is not high but you Ben are moving the average down single handed.

The point here ..... for the upteenth time is nothing aside of the disguise gear (winch/control arms etc) is an exchange part for an older part - the whole car is a 94 plus vehicle that has been ringed.

Not tricky really, but no fecking wonder so many get stolen with so many peeps like you Ben out there.

So...when you cannot supply EVIDENCE to support your OPINION, you resort to insult. Classy!

Its actually not that difficult to tell if the chassis number has been re-stamped. He says its on the original chassis..if you've got so much of a hard on over this then go and check, report back and take it from there.

I want to buy that Defender now :( Thanks alot Crow Man for showing us a sweet motor that has had some modifications since 1986! Although I have no money for it and already have a blue defender :p
