What's an swr meter and patch lead for? I've just ordered that T800 kit, should be here by the weekend.

Breaker 1 9, breaker 1 9........As flat said, plus do not connect it up to the 12V and start pretending you are on the "Convoy" film until it is all plugged in including the aerial and earthed as it should be. Best wait until someone has the SWR to make sure you do it right and do it once.
Cheers
I'm looking at getting a CB rig. Are the shorter aerials (around 85cm length) OK for general laning convoy use as I'm thinking whether to mount it on the front wing or on the side of the roof rack. The back half of my roof rack and rear of the 110 isn't usable as I'm thinking of getting a roof tent with awning. The wing seems easier for install and get through to the bulkhead to connect to the unit. I've got a Raptor dashboard console which can take a CB but as it's enclosed, I presume I'll be needing a CB with a front speaker if I don't want to install a separate speaker. Any recommendations welcome before I take the plunge.
Thanks guys, I'm in Hastings so a bit of a trek from you, does it take long to do, in other words if I'm all mounted and wired up could we do it when we meet on the 4th?
Great Thunderpole have just said its been dispatched so I think I know what my Sunday job is!Yeah no problem, will take about 5 mins - you will either have to slightly tweak it length wise (the aerials are adjustable via a grub screw) or it will be okay out of the box.

Do people usually hard-wire them or plug into the 12V outlet?
OK guys, I've made a route for the day, propose we meet at the Hogs Back Cafe on the A31 heading towards Farnham from Guildford, route covers some of the lanes we did the other day, starting with the traffic cone ford lane, covering some lanes around Hindhead then vaguely following the A3 towards Petersfield before head back towards Chichester. I'll upload the route on the message thread as before.
Oh dear... still, the layby makes a convenient meeting point, unless anyone else can recommend somewhere else in the locale?Okay cool, I am in.
Quick word to the wise though. I went for a snack at he hogsback cafe a mi g or so back and it was absolutely dire :/ so maybe eat beforehand lol
