Hi guys
Long time reader of the forum but a recent new member.
Bought a 2003 Disco (132k miles) recently to go alongside my 98 P38 (188k miles)
Both are great vehicles but the P38 needs a little TLC (unbeliveably the chassis needs a bit of welding), but other than that it drives superbly, the engine has been remapped, the air suspension replaced with springs, raised, and sits on big arse tyres. I think this will be turned into a proper off road play toy.
The Disco is stock (apart from General Grabbers on all 4 corners). this will have some mods made to it, starting with a few guards here and there and a snorkel, before working out the longer term plan. It will be used for long distance overland travels so should be something special at some point.
Really please dto have the odd Disco driver acknowledge me as I drive along, nice to feel a part of the community.
Will be joining the East Northants LROC shortly so that I can take one or either of my LRs out into the mud.
2 issues with the Disco that I'm trying to resolve. 1st was the horn and cruise control didn't work so replaced the horn fuse and all good but any exceessive horn work blows the fuse (ideas?). 2nd the turbo whine seems to be getting louder (almost sounds like a belt rubbing, gets faster as I accelerate obviously and goes when I lift off or cruise) and more consistent so not sure if I need to sort that at some point or if it's normal (again idead). But other than that well chuffed, ceetainly both a lot more comfortable than my previous LR - a 1976 Series 3.
Hopefully I'll meet some of you around and about.
Take care
