Hi Marky,
Taw4x4 produce a good lead with full software on disc. About £20.
The lead has a "d" connector on the computer end and you will need a "d " connector serial port on your laptop, most new laptops will not have one of these so you will need another adaptor cum lead to convert to usb.
This lead cum adaptor is available on ebay (next day delivery for about £6 including p&p. This lead comes with the software to configure the pc and enable the comm port.
Sounds complicated but its not ...
1,Copy EAS software folder to desktop from disc, store the disc away safely. (No need to load programme as it is self executing)
2,Connect lead to car
3,Connect usb lead to car lead and pug into computer
4,Computer will ask for driver disc ( this is becuse its a usb device rather than just a lead and has components built into the plug at one end ), this disc will come with your lead cum adaptor.
5,Wait for driver to load and watch for a notice saying which comm port it has assigned, Possibly 4 or 5.
6,READ THE README FILES
7,Switch car ignition switch to position2 (Radio and Hevac will operate if switched on
8,Run the Fault programme
Ignore description and error messages Press OK
9,When program loads .. Click EAS tools and set comport to the No. assigned when the driver loaded.
If you can't remember click on each comm port no. in turn and when you don't get an error message you have found the correct port no.
10, Initialise and you should see hex nos appear in the TX and RX collumns
Ignore these as they will just tell you Tx Transmitting and RX Recieving
You can now read and reset faults.
If you would like shortcuts to the suppliers just ask
It's easier to use than you think, and under £30 for the set
The RUN Pump will allow you to listen for leaks while the engine is not running.. Great
The program is not without glitches but the more people to use and report to the authors the better it will get.
Regards Fred
