I am a new member on this forum. Previously, all of my attention had been spent on the http://rangerovers.net/forum/

Over on the RangeRover.net forum we have cracked the EAS reset protocol. This has been a project underway for almost a year. I have moved the project development to Sourceforge.net. The win32 and PDA software can be downloaded at http://sourceforge.net/projects/easunlock/

Thought it was important to spread the word.
 
I assure everyone that the software is in working order. I just made some updates yesterday and tested it last night before updating the file download area.

The most difficult part of the process is purchasing and assembling your own OBDII cable. Takes about 15-20 USD and 15 minutes of assembly.

There is a Pocket PC version of the software that I am running on a HP IPAQ 3950 PDA. The Win32 version will run on any WinXP laptop with a serial port. The Win32 version also requires ASP.NET Framework version 2.0. I am thinking about rewriting the code in C# so we do not need the ASP.Net Framework. A USB to Serial converter will also work on the Win32 platform.
 
As listed above, the link to the SourceForge Account is http://sourceforge.net/projects/easunlock/ Navigate to the Download tab and goto browse all files. The PPC version is avaliable there. You will need a Serial cable for your IPAQ avaliable oin Ebay for about 1 USD. In addition to the IPAQ serial cable you will need a null modem converter and the custom OBDII cable.
 
My Dell laptop has no 9 pin D type serial connector.:mad: Can I use the USB ports to connect to the OBDII connector?:)

You need to get a USB to Serial emulator. Its tricky though, I've not got mine working yet but some of the guys on rangerover.net have theirs up and running through the USB.

As said you will need a USB->Serial converter. You will need to adjust the delay sliders though until you can get it communicating right.

Anyone got this EAS Unlock tool to work with Discovery Series 2 Td5 for resetting faults?

The EASunlock software and EAS Serial Cable will only work with the P38a Range Rover Electronic Air Suspension (EAS). The EASunlock software will notwork with any other Land Rover vehicles or systems.

I now have a tool for the Discovery 2 ABS. The tool is called the ABS amigo. The tool will read and clear the ABS fault codes. more at;

Hi, can you help me in getting this cable madeup. Also I am looking for a workshop manual for the P38. I tried getting a copy from jonnyp38 but no reply from him yet.
My air suspension is playing me up and would like to see what is the problem

I am glad that my tools were helpful.
When the Range Rover is locked out at the standard or extended profile, then the EAS computer has entered the "Soft Fault" mode. In Soft fault, only one minor fault has occured and the system can still come out of the fault situation if the failure is fixed quickly.

If the failure is left to persist, then the EAS computer will procced into "Hard FAult". The hard fault mode is where you are locked down on the bump stops.

Most common causes of soft fault situations are electrical glitches with the EAS HEight sensors or a failing EAS Driver Pack. Sometimes leaks in the system can cause a soft fault but that is extremely unlikely.

When you say adjust the delay sliders - which way to do what? - I have played with my old laptop and usb serial adaptor but cannor get it to link properly to the car as I don't really know what the sliders are actually doing,

any guidance would be appreciated

The Sliders adjust in miliseconds, the time delay inserted between different communications signals. Typically the sliders are set to a default every time the software is started. The defaults will work for most vehicles.

The cause of most communications problems are the USB to serial adapter. Please see the video on how to determine which comm port you are on. At the end of the video it shows how to adjust the comm port number t oa different number. Land Rover Reset Tools - Videos

If you are not getting FF in the Rx buffer, but rather 80 or 28, then try adjusting the idle delay to a shorter or longer value. Move the slider in 10 ms increments.
 
Hi gents,

I have struggles to get the software to work through a usb to serial emulator for weeks with no success.
I have now bought a PCMIA to serial port card from Hong Kong for £9.70 inc vat and airmail - its a brilliant bit of kit and the software works fine.

My advice is don't bother with the usb emulators for the same price you can buy the serial port card and software.

The soft ware works a treat

Load the driver for the USB adaptor BEFORE you connect the EASUNLOCK. Or Windows will load a generic adaptor that dies not work properly. Try changing comm ports.
